Career Break

Jan 2014 – Dec 2015

After deciding not to take a gap year after University, In 2014 I decided to embark on a career break to set out on achieving some personal goals and ambitions, including

  • Developing my photography and learning dedicated Photoshop techniques. In 2015 I photographed the Super Blood Moon in September which received an award nomination, and took up solar photography.
  • Invested time in reading and researching more in to Digital Strategy – Marketing is a general passion of mine and I enjoyed having more time to discover and investigate trends deeper.
  • Gained certification as Scrum Product Owner.
  • Consulted with a handful of local businesses on their digital establishment after always had a passion for developing small business digital strategy.
  • Consulted with ‘Stoll’ – a charity housing veterans, on their digital marketing infrastructure and strategy.
  • I’m currently part project managing the development of my parent’s new property, which has been completely different experience

Heading the global Resident Evil 6 digital campaign, from winning a competitive pitch and deploying a social media campaign to securing social and digital marketing retainers. The campaign included some of my favourite projects, a few industry ‘firsts’ and received various award nominations that year including ‘Best Digital Campaign’ for the Drum Awards and being used as an industry case study by Facebook

Crush London – Account Director

Crush London was set up as a youth entertainment communications agency. I was invited to join the team from my previous role to head up the social media offering as well as key client accounts.

  • Managed a number of global social media web applications from concept to deployment in Agile framework, including a Resident Evil 6’s interactive trailer called ‘Shared Nightmare’.
  • Experience in planning for earned, owned, shared, paid and combined multi platform campaigns.
  • Responsible for planning strategy, service, budget and ideation for new business in entertainment, lifestyle, food, retail and fashion industries.
  • As head of social media I managed a social media team of five across various accounts, and was responsible for training, service delivery, operational structure and collaborative strategy.
  • Implemented data analysis structure for client service and developed key metrics for agency and client.
  • Planned and deployed digital campaigns for several reputable entertainment franchises including Resident Evil, Dead Rising, Devil May Cry, Street Fighter and EA’s Need For Speed, EOne’s (“Looper” DVD release) and UKTV.
  • Picked up campaign award nominations from Drum Marketing Awards & MCV Awards (Resident Evil 6).

Lucid Group – Head of Social Media

Through my 3 year career at Lucid Group I grew to account manager, senior account manager and eventually head of department in then the largest independent music focused marketing agency in the UK. In 2012 the agency was integrated into RCA Records, where my role migrated to within Sony Music UK. In 2011 the company earned a #11 spot on Reputation Online’s top PR Agencies list.

 

  • Led a social media team of up to six, managing numerous entertainment social media accounts, from small to international artists including The Script, JLS, The Wanted and Mark Ronson; responsible for community management, content and platform design.
  • Conceptualised and project managed social media applications for artists including Robbie Williams, Massive Attack, Hurts, Take That, David Guetta, JLS, The Wanted, as well as lifestyle brands including Lipsy London.
  • Responsible for the social media and web product offering from the agency, its commercial contribution and performance of its dedicated account managers within, as well as integrating with other departments such as PR and digital marketing.
Role highlight: Ideation and project management of the ‘Tweatre’ campaign we did for Massive Attack in my first year at the company in 2008, which was one of the first ever social media currency experiments conducted in digital music marketing, rewarding Twitter participation with exclusive access to new music videos. It received a Music Week Award nomination for ‘Best Digital Tool’ that year.

Nile-On – Social Media Manager

I joined Nile-on after a 12 month internship programme while at University, and became a social media manager working with music artists and in conjunction with a PR department. My main responsibilities here was promoting our roster’s music to bloggers, content management on social media destinations and web design for social platforms.
